Mexico Vacations: While on a Budget

You can have a good time in Mexico, even if you are traveling on a budget. There is so much to see and do in this country and it does not have to cost you a lot of money. Many hotels and packages are all inclusive. Check with your travel agent when it comes to getting the best air fare or hotel accommodations.

You do not have to eat at the expensive resort restaurants when you are on a budget. As a matter of fact, you can get a taste of real Mexico if you eat at the smaller, cheaper restaurants. You can also combine breakfast and lunch and eat two meals a day instead of three.

Spend a day at the beach. This can be enjoyable for the entire family and gives you a chance to relax. A vacation is supposed to be relaxing, not a stress filled time to hurry around to get things done. You do enough of that the rest of your time. Take this time to slow down and enjoy yourself. Mexico is actually the best place for this. Mexican people know how to enjoy themselves and are very friendly. Take some tips from them.

Do not shop at the boutiques and resort shops. The prices are usually marked up very high in these stores. Instead, why not check out the street markets for some souvenirs? You can usually get the best deals, especially if you learn to haggle a little. Do not be afraid to offer less money than is asked for on a street market. The vendors expect this.

Plan a budget during your vacation and stick to it. Once you have your air fare and hotel accommodations paid for, the only thing you are liable for is your drinks and meals. Go easy on the alcohol. This can save you a ton of money. You do not have to be blind drunk to enjoy Mexico, as a matter of fact, you will probably have a better time if you are sober.

You can take a tour to the ruins with the money that you save from drinking and really see something that you cannot see at home. You can always find a bar at home, but how often can you see Mayan ruins? Put your priorities in order and the budget will fall into place.

There is plenty to see and do in Mexico that does not cost a lot of money. The beaches are among the most beautiful in the world, so you do not need much more than that for the day. Watch your pennies when you are eating and drinking and you should be able to do fine on a budget.

Yet another way to save money is to not rent a car. Most resorts are close to everything so you do not need to add the expense of car rental to your trip. You can, if you must go somewhere a little too far to walk, take a taxi.

Mexico is actually a great vacation destination for anyone traveling on a budget. Airfare is generally reasonable as are accommodations. Look online or talk to a travel agent about getting the best deal.
